ATTENDENCE ISSUES
HOW DO I REPORT AN ABSENCE?
Parents may report an absence by calling the attendence line at 831/637-5831, ext.(s) 102, 105, 107, 108 and 109.
HOW DO I FIND OUT IF MY STUDENT ATTENDED CLASS TODAY OR ANY PARTICULAR DAY?
Parents may access their student's attendence via School Loop, (if registered), otherwise call attendence at Ext. 102, 105, 107, 108 and 109.
WHY DO I RECEIVE PHONE CALLS, EMAILS AND TEXTS TELLING ME MY STUDENT IS OR WAS ABSENT?
Our new reporting system allows teachers to take attendence within the first half hour of class. Students who are absent or late beyond this time have email and phone calls reporting this to numbers listed in our student's records.
IF MY STUDENT IS NOT GOING TO BE IN SCHOOL FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Parents should come in to the Attendence office, (main building) to arrange this. Depending on the reason for the extended absence, issue regarding homework and class credit need to be discussed so that parents are aware of all the ramificiatons of an extended absence.
WHO CAN I SPEAK TO ABOUT PUTTING MY STUDENT ON AN ATTENDENCE CONTRACT?
Parents should make an appt. with their student's Support Manager. Each Manager covers a section of the alphabet and are listed here:
Shelly Maupin, ext. 117 Alpha A-Ga
Nick Rabago, Ext. 121 Alpha Ge-O
Adrian Ramirez, Ext. 103 Alpha P-Z
I RECEIVED A NOTICE INFORMING ME THAT MY STUDENT WAS ABSENT IN A PARTICULAR CLASS BUT MY STUDENT SAYS THEY WERE THERE. HOW DO I CONFIRM THEY WERE PRESENT?
Parents should contact the teacher directly by calling the main school telephone number and dialing the teacher's ext., (room #) or via email. Teacher's email address can be found on the main web page of the school.
I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT MY STUDENT IS OFFICIALLY TRUANT. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AND WHO SHOULD I SPEAK TO REGARDING THIS?
Parents are notified when students have missed the equivalent of three days unexcused absences. This is done via the mail system to ensure that parents are aware of the situation. San Benito High School does this to meet state requirements and to assist busy parents in keeping track of their student's attendence in school.
